Where we are
Castle Rising is a small mediaeval conservation village bordering the Royal Sandringham Estate. The village provides a wealth of architectural and historical interest to visitors of the Norman Castle, church and charming Alms Houses founded by the Howard family in the reign of James 1st.

Within a few miles radius lies the historic port of King's Lynn with it's little alley ways, glimpsed courtyards and celebrated Customs House built in 1683. There are also nature reserves, woodlands and coastline all designated areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Castle Rising is just four miles from King's Lynn which is well served by an hourly direct electrified train service from London, King's Cross (Travel time 1 hour 45 minutes). King's Lynn is also easily accessible by coach.

Old School House, Castle Rising

What we do
UK based courses take place in the delightful setting of the Old School House in Castle Rising. The studio is naturally light, comfortable and well equipped. A separate lounge provides guests with a comfortable area to relax with a cup of fresh coffee, look through the latest edition of Leisure Painter or watch one of our numerous videos. In addition to the comprehensive course programme at Castle Rising we run several courses abroad. In June we will be operating an 8 day painting course in Dubrovnik with Tony Paul and in October Mike Chaplin will be tutoring a course in Luxor.

Accommodation
The Old School House is non-residential so 'good value' Bed & Breakfast accommodation is available in Castle Rising and the immediate area.

Evening Meals
The choice is yours! For those wishing to get together for a meal and a drink we always arrange to meet at a local, informal and inexpensive pub or restaurant. This is, of course, entirely optional so if you would prefer to have a quiet evening followed by a walk on the beach and watch the sun go down it's up to you.
