Derek Daniells is a full time painter in oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media.
He has exhibited widely both here and abroad including the Bankside Gallery and the Mall Galleries, London. He is also a regular exhibitor with WH Patterson, Oakham Gallery and the ROI at the Mall Gallery in London. Derek won the Daler Rowney Painting Award at The Royal Society of British Artists Open Exhibition 2009.
Derek prefers to work directly from life and is fascinated by the effect of light on everyday subjects. This has led to his working in countries where the quality of light forms an integral part of the ambience of the subject.
His work has been included in numerous books on painting (including the Artists Manual) and he is a regular contributor to The Artist Magazine. His book 'Personal Impressions - The Work of Derek Daniells' was published in 2010. He has filmed a Townhouse Films DVD 'Townscape Impressions in Oils'.
Derek is a member of the Wapping Group of Artists.
