Demo on location with David

You are warmly invited to join tutors David Bellamy and Jenny Keal on our fifth painting holiday to this beautiful region of southern Spain. In order to paint, enjoy and explore some of the most dramatic scenery Andalucia has to offer we have, again, chosen Ronda as the perfect place to take full advantage of the many painting opportunities which abound right on our doorstep.

Perched atop the rugged El Tajo gorge Ronda commands spectacular views across an amazing expanse of lush open landscape. The celebrated Puente Nuevo (completed in 1793 and towering some 390 ft above the canyon floor) took over forty years to build and stands sentinel over the ravine which separates the old Moorish quarter from the new town.

Situated in an elevated position, with views to match, our hotel is set in beautiful private, tree shaded, gardens amidst this truly inspiring landscape. The hotel Reina Victoria is a beautiful four star property having been completely refurbished in 2012. The hotel has a classic modern decor theme throughout with a very high standard of guest facilities including a spa, gym and outdoor swimming pool. We have arranged for dinner to be included in the hotel on the day of our arrival following which our accommodation has been arranged on a Bed and Breakfast basis allowing us to enjoy the hospitality and huge variety of local restaurants. All rooms are ensuite and include:

Air conditioning and heating
Desk
Free Wi-Fi
Hair dryer

LCD screen with satellite TV
Minibar
Shower or bath

David and Jenny invite you to join them painting in the media of your choice in and around Ronda town and our chosen locations. Individual tuition can be provided in any media, however, group demonstrations by David and Jenny will be in Watercolour and Pastel respectively.

The programme for our week has, as always, been thoughtfully designed to provide not only an interesting variety of painting subject matter, but also to provide a genuine feel for this most captivating region of southern Spain. To that end, the intention is to include coach excursions to a couple of nearby celebrated ‘white villages’.

There will be an element of walking involved but always at a sensible, leisurely pace. It is, also, worth bearing in mind that some streets are uneven and cobbled so suitable ‘sturdy’ footwear is strongly recommended.

In order to ensure you get the absolute maximum from your week, David and Jenny will organise a structured daily painting routine with group demonstrations and one to one guidance in your chosen media, as appropriate. All our overseas holidays include one half day from a tuition point of view for a bit of sightseeing, relaxation by the pool or a spot of retail therapy – that said, you are, of course, very welcome to opt out of the non-compulsory structure any time it suits you!

You will love this Painting Holiday if you enjoy:

  • Learning in a relaxed, holiday environment
  • Expert guidance in any media from leading, professional artists and tutors
  • Improving your skills and socialising in the company of a likeminded group
